    Self-Protecting Documents for Cloud Storage Security

    International audienceInformation security is currently one of the most important issues in information systems. This concerns the confidentiality of information but also its integrity and availability. The problem becomes even more difficult when several companies are working together on a project and that the various documents "go out of" their respective information systems. We propose an architecture in which the documents themselves ensure their security and thus can be exchanged over uncontrolled resources such as cloud storage or even USB flash drives. For this we encapsulate within the document itself some security components (e.g. access control, usage control) to achieve an autonomic document architecture for Enterprise DRM (E-DRM). Using such self-protecting documents, a company can ensure security and privacy for its documents when outsourcing storage services (e.g. cloud)

    Imaging genetics: bio-informatics and bio-statistics challenges

    International audienceThe IMAGEN study -- a very large European Research Project -- seeks to identify and characterize biological and environmental factors that in uence teenagers mental health. To this aim, the consortium plans to collect data for more than 2000 subjects at 8 neuroimaging centres. These data comprise neuroimaging data, behavioral tests (for up to 5 hours of testing), and also white blood samples which are collected and processed to obtain 650k single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) per subject. Data for more than 1000 subjects have already been collected. We describe the statistical aspects of these data and the challenges, such as the multiple comparison problem, created by such a large imaging genetics study (i.e., 650k for the SNP, 50k data per neuroimage).We also suggest possible strategies, and present some rst investigations using uni or multi-variate methods in association with re-sampling techniques. Specically, because the number of variables is very high, we rst reduce the data size and then use multivariate (CCA, PLS) techniques in association with re-sampling techniques

    Structured ZnO-based contacts deposited by non-reactive rf magnetron sputtering on ultra-thin SiO2/Si through a stencil mask

    In this paper, we study the localized deposition of ZnO micro and nanostructures deposited by non-reactive rf-magnetron sputtering through a stencil mask on ultra-thin (10 nm) SiO2 layers containing a single plane of silicon nanocrystals (NCs), synthetized by ultra-low energy ion implantation followed by thermal annealing. The localized ZnO-deposited areas are reproducing the exact stencil mask patterns. A resistivity of around 5×10−3 Ω cm is measured on ZnO layer. The as-deposited ZnO material is 97% transparent above the wavelength at 400 nm. ZnO nanostructures can thus be used as transparent electrodes for Si NCs embedded in the gate-oxide of MOS devices

    Visualizing Food-Drug Interactions in the Theriaque Database

    This paper presents a prototype for the visualization of food-drug interactions implemented in the MIAM project, whose objective is to develop methods for the extraction and representation of these interactions and to make them available in the Thériaque database. The prototype provides users with a graphical visualization showing the hierarchies of drugs and foods in front of each other and the links between them representing the existing interactions as well as additional details about them, including the number of articles reporting the interaction. The prototype is interactive in the following ways: hierarchies can be easily folded and unfolded, a filter can be applied to view only certain types of interactions, and details about a given interaction are displayed when the mouse is moved over the corresponding link. Future work includes proposing a version more suitable for non-health professional users and the representation of the food hierarchy based on a reference classification

    Changes in the flexion-relaxation response induced by hip extensor and erector spinae muscle fatigue

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The flexion-relaxation phenomenon (FRP) is defined by reduced lumbar erector spinae (ES) muscle myoelectric activity during full trunk flexion. The objectives of this study were to quantify the effect of hip and back extensor muscle fatigue on FRP parameters and lumbopelvic kinematics.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Twenty-seven healthy adults performed flexion-extension tasks under 4 different experimental conditions: no fatigue/no load, no fatigue/load, fatigue/no load, and fatigue/load. Total flexion angle corresponding to the onset and cessation of myoelectric silence, hip flexion angle, lumbar flexion angle and maximal trunk flexion angle were compared across different experimental conditions by 2 × 2 (Load × Fatigue) repeated-measures ANOVA.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The angle corresponding to the ES onset of myoelectric silence was reduced after the fatigue task, and loading the spine decreased the lumbar contribution to motion compared to the hip during both flexion and extension. A relative increment of lumbar spine motion compared to pelvic motion was also observed in fatigue conditions.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Previous results suggested that ES muscles, in a state of fatigue, are unable to provide sufficient segmental stabilization. The present findings indicate that, changes in lumbar-stabilizing mechanisms in the presence of muscle fatigue seem to be caused by modulation of lumbopelvic kinematics.</p

    International Geomagnetic Reference Field: the 12th generation

    The 12th generation of the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) was adopted in December 2014 by the Working Group V-MOD appointed by the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA). It updates the previous IGRF generation with a definitive main field model for epoch 2010.0, a main field model for epoch 2015.0, and a linear annual predictive secular variation model for 2015.0-2020.0. Here, we present the equations defining the IGRF model, provide the spherical harmonic coefficients, and provide maps of the magnetic declination, inclination, and total intensity for epoch 2015.0 and their predicted rates of change for 2015.0-2020.0. We also update the magnetic pole positions and discuss briefly the latest changes and possible future trends of the Earth’s magnetic fiel
